The RAV4 is Toyota’s sporty compact SUV that received a total makeover for 2006 with an increase in size to accommodate available third-row seating and an available powerful V6 engine. The RAV4 was first introduced in Japan in 1994 and arrived in the U.S. in January 1996. The second-generation RAV4 debuted for the 2001 model year.
The 2009 Toyota RAV4 features a new 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 179 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. The exterior receives styling updates including additional chrome accents, redesigned 17-inch wheels for Sport and Limited, a unique spoiler for Sport and a new Sport Appearance Package for V6 4WD versions. Inside all trim levels receive new seat fabrics and options include Charcoal leather for Sport, a low-cost navigation system, backup camera monitor and power driver’s seat. New exterior colors include Magnetic Gray Metallic, Pyrite Mica and Sandy Beach Metallic.
