The 2009 Mazda Tribute is Mazda’s compact SUV that was redesigned for the 2008 model year with the focus on a bold, tough exterior look combined with a more upscale, comfortable interior. The Tribute joined the Mazda lineup for 2001 and is offered with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The Tribute is built on the same platform as the Ford Escape, but the Tribute is styled and tuned to look and perform like a Mazda. The redesigned 2008 Tribute went on sale early in 2007 and there was no 2007 model year Tribute.
After a redesign for 2008, the 2009 Mazda Tribute receives additional upgrades that include a new 2.5-liter iVTC 4-cylinder engine that produces 171 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque, an improved 3.0-liter V6 that produces 240 horsepower and 223 lb-ft of torque and a new 6-speed automatic transmission. Also for 2009 the front and rear seats are redesigned, Easy Fuel capless fuel system is added and three new exterior colors are added: White Suede, Brilliant Silver and Sport Blue.
